There are numerous beaches in the area, from the sandy sheltered beach at St Gilles-Croix-de-Vie to secluded coves at Sion-sur-l’Ocean. The market town of Challans is only ten miles away, with a popular market on Tuesdays. On the way back you could visit a working mill at Sallertaine still using traditional methods.

Located on a rock, surrounded by water, the fortress of Talmont played an important part in the defence of Poitou against the invading Normans. Years later, several kings of France were made welcome along with Richard the Lion Heart during the crusade years. Nowadays you can attend medieval demonstrations during the festival period.
