| Known as the Isle of Whithorn, this village is actually not an island, but a small village on the Scottish coast in Dumfries and Galloway. Amenities in the village include two pubs/hotels, a Post Office/general store, and a harbour. There is so much history in this area, from iron age forts to 11th century churches, and standing stones to castles built by Robert The Bruce. The 'book town' of Scotland, Wigtown, is a few miles away from the village, and the rest of lovely Dumfries and Galloway is on the doorstep. |

| Wigton is a traditional Cumbrian market town with its charter granted in 1262 and still holds a market every Tuesday in the covered market hall. The town is a popular centre for shopping, pubs and restaurants, and also boasts a theatre, bowls, swimming, tennis and other sports. Lord Melvyn Bragg was a native of Wigton, and used the town (called Thurston in some of his writings) and the surrounding area as the setting for his novels including 'A Time to Dance'. Located 18 miles from Penrith it is a good base for the attractions of the North Lakes, the cathedral city of Carlisle (10 miles), and the natural beauty of the West Cumbrian Coast. Hadrian's Wall is within 25 miles, while the Scottish Borders (and Gretna Green) are within easy reach. |

| Fish Tales Cottage is a newly renovated and refurbished barn conversion in the tiny hamlet of Fingland, which lies on the north Cumbrian coast and near to Hadrians Wall. The owner makes his living by teaching fly fishing and can offer instruction on the local rivers by prior arrangement. The cottage is very well equipped, with 3 en-suite bedrooms, good quality furnishings and beamed ceilings. Fingland is only 7 miles from Carlisle and close to both the Lake District National Park and Scottish Borders. The area is ideal for those seeking peace and quiet, it lies in an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty', next to a nature reserve with a wide variety of wildlife, birdlife, flora and fauna. Although the cottage has a 'no pets' policy there is a boarding kennels in the village - less than two minutes walk: Fingland Boarding Kennels and Cattery.
