West Somerton is a small broadland village tucked into a quiet corner of East Norfolk, super for all bird-watching enthusiasts! It has been featured in the BBC Coast programme and quoted by Nicholas Crane "as my favourite place on the Norfolk Broads". Certainly West Somerton has one of the prettiest Staithes. Families will enjoy days out at the many attractions in the area: try Bewilderwood, great adventure for the children, or a day cruising the Broads. The sandy beaches at Winterton and Horsey are only two miles away, with the bustling seaside resort of Great Yarmouth a little further. River's End is in an enviable position overlooking the pretty village staithe, ideal for groups of adults, extended families or for two families sharing. Lose yourself in the wildlife; several species of rare birds are regular visitors. Otters and water voles are about. Martham Broad Nature Reserve, situated on the River Thurne is one of the Broad's largest at over 101 acres and a Site of Special Scientific Interest is only 200 yards from the cottage.
