The Old Post Office in Muasdale nestles between two large rocks and boasts a wonderful sandy beach front location. There is a fantastic uninterrupted view west to the Atlantic Ocean, looking out onto the islands of Cara, Gigha, Islay and the Paps of Jura. This westerly location provides you with stunning sunsets, which you can enjoy from the paved seating area or while just strolling on the long sandy beach to inhale the invigorating fresh sea air. The Old Post Office is a converted potato store, dating back to the 1800's which has been extended to provide extra living accommodation. The open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area has exposed traditional random stone walls and a lovely cosy log fire. The view from the arched kitchen window is directly out to the sea and the islands. To the South of the house lies approximately three quarters of an acre of wild grassed area, also a gravel parking area for four or more cars. To the West of the house there is a large grassy area which leads directly down onto an expanse of sandy beach. A small burn flows along the North boundary of the enclosed garden and bordering the Southern wild grassed ares is a working fisherman's launch. The location makes ideal sea fishing, a boat or canoe can easily be launched or just spend the day relaxing on the beach. Muasdale village is small and quiet with a small local shop. Campbeltown (15 miles) offers all the additional facilities you may require including a supermarket, various shopping, a swimming pool, cinema and eateries. There are lots of places to explore throughout the Kintyre Peninsula. Close proximity to the sea gives lots of opportunities for coastal walks, boat trips, seal and otter spotting, bird watching, sea angling, and if lucky some whale and dolphin watching too! Brisk westerly winds offer ideal conditions for wind surfing or kite flying. From Tayinloan (4 miles) the ferry leaves for Gigha which is home to the famous Achamore House & Gardens. The island is ideal for cycling. The Kintyre Peninsula is steeped in history, St Columbia first landed in Scotland (AD563) at Southend. Off the harbour in Campbeltown is Davaar Island. The Old Post Office is a lovely, semi detached cottage situated in the small, quiet hamlet of Clachan on the Kintyre Peninsula. The property was once used as the local Post Office/village shop which was built during the 1880's. A close look at the stone lintel above the front door reveals the old engravings testifying to the property's former use. The building is now famous locally for its red telephone box which has been made into a porch way for the house next door. The Old Post Office has an open plan living space on the ground floor with beam effect ceiling. The lounge area has a modern leather suite set beside a wonderful wood burning stove. The kitchen area has tasteful cream, fully fitted units, a Belfast sink and an amazing eight gas ring range cooker with two electric ovens. The upstairs bedrooms have coombed ceilings and one room has a dormer window which overlooks the village. Although the property does not have its own private garden the owners, who live next door, are happy for guests to use theirs. A short, twenty minute walk from the village leads down to a lovely sandy beach and there are many other walks locally. The local service station has a well stocked shop and post office facilities. Lochgilphead and Tarbert to the North and Campbeltown to the South offers additional facilities including a supermarket, a good range of shops, swimming pool and numerous eateries. Coalfin is a large, impressive detached farmhouse sitting high on the hillside overlooking the small village of Skipness on the Kintyre Peninsula. The property has a stunning view south over Kilbrannan Sound to the Isle of Arran. The large, spacious kitchen is the heart of this property, a place for everyone to gather and chat. At one end of the kitchen is a large bunk room (sleeping 4), with en-suite facilities. The opposite end leads into the lounge where there is a cosy, open fire. The main hallway provides access to a large double bedroom with en-suite. Upstairs there are a further two bedrooms and a shower room. All rooms have a stunning sea view, looking out to Arran. The property is spacious and ideal for a family holiday. The large half acre garden is fully enclosed and grassy.
