Staveley is an excellent base for exploring a quieter side of Lakeland - the village has been bypassed in recent years so has little passing traffic. Some fabulous walking and cycling are to be enjoyed here, and Staveley is also home to 3 good pubs, all serving excellent food, a micro brewery with sampling room, an organic wine merchants, artisan bakers, butchers and even a cookery school. In fact, there is so much going on in and around Staveley that you may never venture into the busier resorts of Bowness and Windermere, a 10 minute drive in the car. Within an hours drive head north to Carlisle, East to the beautiful Eden Valley, South to Cartmel and the South lakes Penninsula and West to Coniston and Hawkshead.


Staveley House and her neighbouring apartment are thought to have once been agricultural buildings, the house displaying a wealth of exposed beams and an unusual stone spiral staircase.
