Magnolia Cottage , Sherborne

Price: £ 198- £439

Sleeps: 4

Full details of Magnolia Cottage-Sherborne

Availability and booking information
Magnolia Cottage has been tastefully restored to offer accommodation for groups of up to four people. It’s a picturesque haven for small families or a group of friends. There are two patios from which to enjoy a glass of wine or a spot of al fresco dining in the summertime. There is off-road parking for up to two cars, and the shop and pub are less than two miles away. For the winter months, there is oil-fired central heating throughout, meaning you can enjoy what the region has to offer at any time of year.
The village was part of ‘The Vale of a Hundred Dairies’ by Thomas Hardy and agriculture is still a very important part of this region’s life. The town lies in the heart of the beautiful Blackmore Vale and is within easy reach of Blandford Forum, Shaftesbury, Sherborne, Poole and Bournemouth. Flowing around the Sturminster, the River Stour rises at Stourhead and reaches the sea at Christchurch. There is coarse fishing here and it is reckoned to be among the best in England. Evidence of the town’s historic past can be found in the strangest of places; a 19th Century plaque, fixed to Sturminster’s medieval bridge, states that anyone damaging it would have been transported to Australia as a felon. 200 yards away from the bridge is an ancient, working watermill (open to the public) where you can watch winnowing and milling wheat.

Located near to the border of Dorset and Somerset, Frodos is a lovely cottage for a couple wishing to explore this part of the country.
Henstridge lies in the extreme south of Somerset and it's parish is separated from Dorset by Landshire Lane. Its name comes from the Olde English word ‘henst’, meaning ‘horses’ and translates as: "the ridge where stallions are kept".  The ridge is the narrow strip of Jurassic limestone that runs through Henstridge and the nearby villages of Yenston and Whitechurch. Henstridge has an attractive church, which was consecrated in 1332. Unusually it has four altars. The porch was added in the 14th Century and the north aisle was built in the 15th Century. Nearby, you can explore a number of properties in the care of the National Trust, such as Stourhead House and Gardens and the historic town of Shaftesbury. Britain’s most famous stone circle, Stone Henge, is only a short drive away and the Dorset coast offers the best of coastline and countryside.
