| Force Mill is in a lovely location for a family country holiday, surrounded by farmland, forest, a stream and nearby waterfall (Force) which gives it its name. Go south for Rusland Woods, Fell Foot, the Haverthwaite Steam Railway and the Windermere Cruises; North for Grizedale Centre (the Go-Ape experience) - safe cycle trails, forest walks and the more rugged fells. Coniston and Brantwood are a good day's walk there and back. At home you can enjoy the large enclosed garden, well-furnished and with fine views and ample safe parking. The house is recently refurbished and has three restful bedrooms, a bathroom with shower, a further shower room, and a light airy living/dining room with wood burning stove. Nearby villages 1 mile away have friendly pubs with good bar meals. Free tennis is available at Satterthwaite - bring your own rackets. Riding/trekking available at Bowkerstead Farm - ten minutes walk. |

A fine example of a traditional lakeland barn, Marigold enjoys a central village location, only a short walk from the local pub and with many walks from the door. Marigold Barn has been lovingly refurbished and now provides excellent accomodation on two floors, the living rooms on the first floor to take best advantage of the views. Quality materials and fittings have been used throughout to create a stylish yet comfortable feel, with carefully chosen accessories and excellent choice of soft furnishings cleverly used to compliment the exposed stonework and wonderful display of open beams. The woodburning stove, set into a corner, ensures the barn is cosy throughout the seasons whilst the balcony, which gives way to views across the valley, attempts to draw your attention away from this lovely holiday home and to the fells beyond.

Set in the heart of Beatrix Potter Country, the villages of Hawkshead and Satterthwaite must be two of the prettiest in the whole of the Lake District. The Elizabethan cobbled streets of Hawkshead, lined with whitewashed cottages and courtyards is mainly pedestrianised and so offers a pleasant amble around the church and the old Grammar school where Wordsworth carved his name on a desk. Just 3 miles over the hill from Hawkshead is Satterthwaite set amidst Grizedale Forest, with its excellent visitors centre, offering pre-bookable activities including Go Ape but also offering disabled access through many of their forest pathways.
Bloomery Barn, situated in the centre of the village, enjoys wonderful, open views from the rear of the property over surrounding farmland. The property is presented in a traditional, comfortable style and all rooms are light and spacious. The ground floor bedroom and bathroom make this an ideal choice for those with mobility difficulties and the sun room and galleried seating area offer extra flexible living space, particularly useful if you have children in your party. The excellent Eagles Head pub, just across the road, serves good bar food and offers a great, friendly atmosphere.
