You can fish, shoot, walk for miles, tour about or just relax. The climate is particularly kind here, with generally low rain fall and high sunshine hours. The Cataran Trail long distance walk passes through the estate. In the winter months, skiing is popular at Glenshee (1/2 hour drive) In the summer months, why not try hang gliding at Glenshee, with qualified instructors. On the estate and included in your holiday price are fishing for trout on the estate loch, or for trout/salmon on the River Ardle and there are lovely walks throughout the estate. Smiddy Cottage is a lovely stone built cottage, nestling in the beautiful Highland Perthshire countryside. A former working Smiddy, dating back over 100 years, the property has recently been refurbished and offers spacious and comfortable accommodation. Pitlochry is just 7 miles away and boasts a great number of shops, cafes and restaurants. Pitlochry is also home to the Festival Theatre, offering a number of plays and concerts throughout the season, Pitlochry dam and salmon ladder and just outside Pitlochry, Edradour distillery - Scotland's smallest distillery. In nearby Blair Atholl you will find Blair Castle. Visit this 13th century castle and spend some time in the gardens and grounds where you will find a sculpture trail, Hercules Garden, a 9 acre walled garden, and Diana's grove where you will see some of the country's finest trees including a grand fir which is Scotland's 2nd tallest.
