| Nestled on a hillside above the tiny village of Backbarrow is this attractive terraced Lakeland property. Just a stone's throw from the southern tip of Lake Windermere and with breathtaking views of the surrounding fells, this charming property is well-equipped and thoughtfully presented. The cottage also comes with a modern fitted kitchen and a living room with open fire and dining area, as well as a beautiful garden – giving guests the chance to enjoy al fresco dining on warm summer nights or a mug of something hot by the fire in winter. |
| On the southern tip of Lake Windermere and by the banks of the River Leven is the charming village of Backbarrow. Set amidst the breathtaking Lake District scenery, this pretty village makes an excellent place from which to explore the rest of this lovely region. A great way to see the wonderful local scenery is on the famous Furness Railway which runs between Haverthwaite and Newby Bridge, or take a look at the Aquarium of the Lakes which uses naturally themed habitats to bring the history of the Lakes vividly to life. Lake Windermere itself offers some magnificent views, as do the surrounding fells and the picturesque village of Hawkshead – a place that inspired such internationally well known authors as William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. |

Situated at the southern tip of Lake Windermere in a semi rural location and very close to the Haverthwaite and Lakeside Steam Railway, Steam Train Cottage is within striking distance of a variety of activities and quaint Lakeland villages. The area is popular with canoeists and fishermen and being close to Grizedale Forest, the location is ideal for walkers and cyclists too. The cottage is neatly presented with 21st century styling and enjoys a lovely decked seating area giving way to lovely views of the steam railway passing by. The Swan Hotel, on the banks of the River Leven, offers great food throughout the day and is just 2 minutes stroll from the cottage. Please note that, due to the nearby railway line, we consider Steam Train Cottage suitable for only babes in arms.
