Cherry Tree Cottage is a semi detached cottage in the Victorian seaside town of Nairn. The cottage sleeps four people in two double bedrooms and it has a shower room on the ground floor. This 200 year old whitewashed detached stone cottage is set within 1.5 acres of cottage gardens and separate walled garden area. Situated down a quiet country lane in pretty countryside with dry stone walls, small bridges over tumbling rivers and lovely rolling hills this area is a real backwater, yet only 6 miles from the centre of Inverness, the capital of the Highlands. Craigellachie Cottage has lots of original features, including thick stone walls, deep silled windows and a cosy wood burning stove. It is beautifully presented and attractively furnished, with a modern kitchen boasting granite work surfaces and solid wood cabinets. The gardens and grounds are a real feature of the property. To the front and sides there is a lawned area with shrubs, surrounded by an attractive old stone wall. Outside the kitchen is a patio area with tables, chairs and a good sized BBQ. There is a large walled natural garden adjoining the cottage, which is mainly grassed with mature trees and shrubs. It is a lovely addition to the property and ideal to relax and enjoy a picnic and outdoor games. There are many places of interest and historical sites within easy reach. Cawdor Castle with its stunning gardens, superb drawbridge and fascinating history, dating back to the days of 'Macbeth', is only 2 miles away. Wander through the atmospheric battlefields of Culloden and visit the new audio visual experience or take a short drive to Fort George, set out on a promontory with spectacular views of the Moray Firth. It is ideally situated for touring the whole of the Highland region. There are also numerous sandy beaches and miles of unspoilt coastline to explore. Local facilities include golf, fishing, horse riding, sailing, canoeing, mountain biking, hill walking and climbing. The Moray Firth area is renowned for its population of bottle nosed dolphins and there are a number of boat excursions available to view the dolphins, seals and wide variety of bird life close to hand. Loch Ness is also easily accessible and provides a memorable day out. There are two 'monster' exhibitions, boat excursions on the loch and the stunningly beautiful Urquhart Castle situated at the head of Loch Ness. Inverness, the capital of the Highlands is just ten minutes drive.
