| Minard Castle is a 19th century country house situated on the shores of Loch Fyne surrounded by a 50 acre estate providing garden and woodland walks – there are even two friendly donkeys for children to pet. The Castle itself is run as a 4 star Bed and Breakfast establishment and self catering guests are welcome to book breakfast in the castle (subject to availability) if they would like a break from cooking for themselves. There is an abundance of wildlife to be found in the surrounding area including deer, foxes, red squirrels, seals and many species of birds. Anglers can exercise the salmon fishing rights held by the owners which extend along the shoreline of the estate and permits for other lochs in the area can be purchased from local outlets. The village of Minard has a shop and post office, the nearest restaurants and pubs are located in the villages of Furnace or Lochgair, 5 miles in either direction from the property. Inveraray, the home of the Duke of Argyll, is just 13 miles away and is noted for its castle, historic jail and maritime museum. The Lodge is a charming bungalow set in the grounds of the castle just behind the main house on the approach road. The cottage provides ample accommodation for 4 and two additional folding beds for children are provided. The lawn area to the side of the cottage has a table and chairs for alfresco dining or additional space for children to play. |
