| Rocky Knowe is a lovely, spacious, modern bungalow set in a stunning position and enjoying superb views over the gardens to the Urr Estuary. Visitors to this lovely corner of Scotland are amazed at its beauty, temperate climate and relatively few people. We hope you will agree it's a secret well worth keeping! The coast line in this area stretches for over 200 miles and features a variety of dramatic cliffs, amazing seascapes and sandy beaches - perfect for that tasty barbecue overlooking the unhurried ebb and flow of the waves. During the year there is a huge programme of events from Spring Fling where local artists open their studios, to music festivals, exhibitions and local traditions. The annual Riding of The Marches is an exciting event and the brolly parade at Kirkcudbright's jazz festival is a colourful extravaganza. The Galloway Hills offer exceptional walking far away from the madding crowd and for those who wish to catch a glimpse of the wildlife their wait may be rewarded by otters, red kites, badgers and deer. The local walks are many and varied and range from forest to cliff. An unusual walk can be enjoyed along the causeway to Rough Island but only at low tide! One of the highly acclaimed 7Staines mountain bike venues is very close by at Dalbeattie. This is mountain biking at its best providing exhilarating and heart pumping trails through wonderful countryside. Those who prefer a little less activity and the opportunity to purchase a reminder of their stay, and then a visit to Barnbarroch Pottery is a lovely way to while away the hours. Alternatively, a gentle stroll through Rockcliffe and Kippford will delight the eye. One of the area's claims to fame are its truly, stunning night skies. Not many get the chance to see a night sky in all its glory but the nearby Galloway Forest Park offers just such an opportunity. The forest park, the largest in the UK, has just won a prestigious award for being one of only four places left in the world where visitors can look out upon a clear night sky teeming with glinting stars. If you are aching to see the Milky Way as it should be seen then there is no better place in the country to stargaze. Laggan Outdoor Centre is a great day out for adrenalin junkies and one go on the mountain balling experience will leave you addicted.Property is all on ground floor level, has oil under floor heating. |
