This charming village has two pubs, two shops and a very cosy tea room, often frequented by walkers from the encompassing dale. At just four miles away, Ripon is the nearest large town and offers a variety of attractions including its imposing cathedral with its 1,300 year old crypt, the Yorkshire Law & Order Museums and a bustling weekly market. |

The wild splendour of Hackfall Wood offers lovely woodland walks, waterfalls, a beautiful display of bluebells in the Spring and where birdlife and wildlife abounds. Grewelthorpe has a good village inn serving food and Kirkby Malzeard 1 mile away has an excellent butcher, general store and 2 country inns. Masham is nearby with welcoming tea rooms, a glass making studio, craft shops, golf course and the Theakston and Black Sheep Brewery each with Visitor Centres, whilst the historic city of Ripon a 10 minute drive away offers visitors a variety of attractions including a magnificent cathedral, museums, racecourse, and a good selection of shops, quaint pubs and restaurants scattered around the main square. An ideal location for walking and touring the Yorkshire Dales which each offer their own natural beauty with the North York Moors, Harrogate, Knaresborough and York within easy driving distance. |
