In a lovely elevated position within 16 acres of private land, adjoining the River Clough, overlooking the unspoilt dale and approached up a steep farm track, this beautifully restored and extremely well presented property is ideal for two families or groups of friends wishing to enjoy the natural delights of this stunning area. With oak flooring in the dining room, exposed stone walls, beams, roof trusses and a window seat in the sitting room the renovation has retained original features in this character property. Every attention to detail has been taken care of to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay at any time of the year, in this get away from it all location, there is a wood burning stove in the sitting room, under floor heating throughout the ground floor and full central heating. Enjoy spectacular walks from the doorstep, this area is a haven for lovers of wildlife and the countryside, red squirrels can be seen in the locality. The nearby ‘Book Town’ of Sedbergh is 5 miles away with shops tea rooms and a convenience store. Fishing rights on the property with fishing permits are available at the Post Office. There is also a pub at the head of the dale 4 miles away serving food.

Situated within the heart of Garsdale and dating back over 300 years, Farrier’s Cottage has been lovingly renovated to create a beautiful and spacious home from home which has retained immense character and exudes charm from every room. Originally a blacksmiths cottage and barn, Farrier’s Cottage has been decorated and furnished to a high standard with the owners’ antique furniture, solid wood flooring and slate tiles throughout and offers a welcome retreat at any time of the year. Set back from the road which takes you through the village of Garsdale, and approached via a short steep track the cottage is idyllically set with lovely views of the dale opposite. There is a choice of shops and banks in nearby Sedbergh (5 miles) or Hawes (9 miles) which is also home to the Wensleydale creamery, antique and gift shops as well as regular market days. Sedbergh (England’s Book Town) has a good selection of secondhand bookshops. Four miles from the cottage there is also a pub serving food. A haven for walkers and wildlife lovers, there are numerous routes from the door-step with the option of riding on the famous Settle to Carlisle Railway which runs close by with stopping points at Garsdale or Kirkby Stephen. Alternatively the Lake District is within an hour’s drive.
