| Blackadder End Cottage is a charming listed property with oodles of character situated in the heart of the pretty borders village of Allanton where the river Blackadder ebbs and flows to merge into the river Whiteadder. The cottage enjoys a lovely homely ambience with a wood-burning stove in the lounge / diner; perfect to snuggle in front of to rest after a day out exploring this gorgeous region, and watch the flames dance. The well maintained garden at the rear boasts uninterrupted views across open farmland an idyllic spot to dine al fresco. The three bedrooms on the first floor are immaculately presented throughout. Allanton is a peaceful conservation village in rural Berwickshire, located only a few miles from the Scottish / English border and boasts the renowned Les Routiers awarded dining Allanton Inn a mere gentle stroll from Blackadder End Cottage. There are many other local facilities available in Chirnside only a mile away and the historic market town of Duns also offers a wide array of facilities, just 7 miles. The elegant Georgian market town of Berwick straddles the River Tweed and sits just 10 miles across the border into north Northumberland. It offers many facilities including a cinema / theatre, leisure centre with indoor swimming and an array of quaint tea rooms, shops and restaurants. A regular train service from Berwick takes only 40 minutes to reach the heart of the cultural city of Edinburgh, renowned for its festivals, arts and music venues, its superb castle and Medieval buildings and not forgetting the indulgent shopping experience along the Royal Mile! Paxton House and Country Park is set in 80 acres of gardens, woodland and park-lands and is well worth a visit close by and Manderston House and grounds is a popular visitor attraction too. The Scottish Border toon of Coldstream is 11 miles, with its wonderful woodlands walks at the Hirsel estate and prestigious golf course is well worth a visit too.
