Cosy Cottage is situated in a quiet backwater in the heart of the sea town area of Cullen. Originally a fisherman's cottage, built at the height of the 19th century fishing boom, it has now been restored and converted to provide attractive and modern accommodation. Although on two floors, the main rooms are all on the ground floor. A steep staircase leads up to two small bedrooms. Previously used by the fisher folk to dry their nets, this floor has now been refurbished with two pretty single bedrooms; ideal for children, as height is restricted. Cullen is the jewel in the crown of these lovely seaboard villages along this coast. With its long sandy beaches, pretty harbour and marina and its attractive main street with unusual and enticing shops, restaurants, bars and cafes, all within easy walking distance, it is an ideal base from which to explore this unspoilt corner of Scotland. All along this coast small coves and rocky outcrops are interspersed with wonderful sandy beaches. The pretty harbour at Cullen, with its small fishing boats and private craft is a real delight, and visitors are welcome to launch their own canoes and small craft from the slipway. The Speyside Way coastal trail passes through Cullen and there are wonderful walks along coastal paths and woodland trails for cyclists and walkers. There are a wide variety of places of interest within a short drive, and the renowned Castle and Whisky Trails are a must for most visitors. The area is also renowned for its sea and wildlife. The famous bottle nosed dolphins of the Moray Firth are regularly seen in the area and local boat excursions run from the nearby town of Buckie to encounter the sea life closer to hand. The nearby Tunget nature reserve is also home to a variety of birds, including osprey, as well as some rare migratory birds in season. There is a wealth of activities available locally, including golf, horse riding, pony trekking, cycling, sailing, canoeing and fishing (sea, loch and river). Cosy Cottage is also ideally located for exploring the two main Highland cities of Aberdeen and Inverness, being almost equidistant between them. With miles of unspoilt coastline, interspersed with pretty fishing villages, castles and distilleries it provides a superb base from which to explore this beautiful and totally unspoilt areaProperty has electric storage heaters.
