Owl Cottage is located in the historic town of Appleby in Westmorland. It is a 200 year old stone-built, single storey cottage with one king size double bedroom and bathroom making it a delightful location for a romantic retreat. The cottage also has a compact, fitted kitchen and a sitting room with a dining table whilst outside the cottage is a communal green with a bench. Being centrally located in Appleby, Owl Cottage is the ideal venue for a holiday home being on the edge of the Lake District National Park.
The historic town of Appleby, set at the heart of the lush Eden Valley, was originally the county town of Westmorland. The picturesque street of Boroughgate, with interesting old buildings, is at the heart of the town and links the well-preserved Norman Castle with the fine medieval Church of St. Lawrence. Appleby is a major stop on the Settle-to-Carlisle Railway, which is one of the most beautiful railway journeys in Britain, and today many of the old steam trains still wend their way along this line and over the historic and awe-inspiring Ribblehead viaduct. With the lovely Pooley Bridge and the magnificent Lake District within easy reach, this is an ideal holiday location.

Appleby an ancient market town with pretty cobbled streets inns and shops lies 7 miles away also has a public swimming pool. Great Asby (3 miles) has a pub serving food.

Dufton Hall Cottage has been delightfully restored to provide comfortable accommodation and is open plan and sleeps two with one king size double bed which can be made into two singles, if required. The cottage also has a cosy sitting area, dining area, kitchen and a shower room with shower cubicle that adjoins the living area. After a busy day exploring, dining can take place in the wonderful patio area. With many lovely walks, picturesque villages and towns nearby, this makes Dufton Hall Cottage a wonderful base.
Dufton is situated in an ideal location for visiting both the Lake District and Eden Valley. This lovely village has a good pub that serves food and the Agricultural Show is held on the last Saturday in August. Just three miles away is Appleby-in-Westmorland, one of the loveliest towns in the north of England. The town is situated in the heart of the lovely Eden Valley and has many shops and is one of the main stops for the Settle-to-Carlisle Railway. The Appleby-in-Westmorland Jazz festival that takes place in July is a popular attraction. Walkers should head to Dufton Fell and the Pennine Way to take in the breathtaking scenery plus with the village of Pooley Bridge and the town of Penrith close by, this makes Dufton an ideal base.

In June, visitors can experience the atmosphere of the 300 year old Horse Fair. Traditionally, this was an annual event where Gypsies gathered to sell their horses.
