Lochside is an architect-designed luxury cottage built in 2009 to a traditional Highland design. The cottage is stunningly located on the edge of the sea and commands spectacular and uninterrupted panoramic views across the bay to Gairloch beach, the dramatic Torridon mountains, Badachro harbour and the Isle of Skye. The south facing position ensures that the property and gardens take full advantage of the sun from early morning to late evening, with some stunning sunsets across the water. Lochside is exceptionally well presented throughout. Its bright and spacious lounge takes full advantage of the sea and mountain views. French windows open out onto a lovely patio area with solid wood picnic table and surrounding lawned gardens. The bedrooms are particularly spacious and all enjoy amazing views. Lochside is just a few hundred yards from the edge of the village on the road to a superb sandy beach known as Big Sand. The small but vibrant village has an interesting selection of shops, as well as restaurants, hotels and bars. The surrounding area offers a wealth of activities and places of interest. There is an excellent 9 hole golf course, pony trekking, cycling (bike hire available locally), fishing in loch, sea and river, hill walking and climbing in some of the most spectacular mountains to be found in the Highlands. There are also a variety of water sports and boat trips. The local wild life is renowned. Dolphins, seals and otters are frequent visitors and there is also a whale watching boat that runs from the nearby pier, which is highly recommended. The beautiful sub tropical gardens of Inverewe and the rugged and spectacular Ben Eighe Nature Reserve are both close by. Clisham Cottage is tucked into the hillside above the picturesque village of Lochcarron on the West Coast of the Scottish Highlands. This wee cottage is approached via a flight of stone steps leading from the main street in the heart of this scenic village. Set right on the shores of the loch, surrounded by the spectacular hills and mountains of Wester Ross, Lochcarron is bounded by the sea-loch on one side and attractive cottages and houses that straddle the main street on the other and is one of the prettiest villages in the Western Highlands. The cottage is within easy walking distance of the local facilities, which include excellent restaurants, café, pub, and small shops. Clisham Cottage has recently been refurbished and re-decorated throughout and offers bright and attractive accommodation for two in a wonderful setting. There is an open-plan lounge / dining / kitchen area, a modern shower-room and good-sized twin bedroom. The surrounding area is renowned for its magnificent landscapes, incorporating mountains, rivers, lochs and sea. A paradise for lovers of the great outdoors, it offers unlimited sporting opportunities: climbing, hill-walking, fishing, canoeing, diving, sailing and mountain-biking are all available close by. The area is also a haven for wildlife. Otters and seals can be seen along the shore-line and dolphins are spotted in the bay. There are some spectacular drives in this part of the Highlands. A trip to Applecross via the highest road in Britain is a must. Known as the Pass of the Cattle and rising to over 2,000 feet, it affords amazing views across the Minch to the isles of Raasay and Skye. This beautiful, unspoilt peninsular, highlighted through the television programme Great Escapes, makes a wonderful day out, with dramatic scenery, beautiful beaches and excellent food at the local restaurants. Another superb drive is through the dramatic Torridon mountains to the stunning sandy beaches of Gairloch and the west coast, or take a trip to the vibrant fishing port of Ullapool further north; there is spectacular scenery in all directions. The charming sea port of Kyle of Lochalsh, gateway to the Isle of Skye, is also within easy reach. A glass-bottomed boat runs from here to view the sea life close to hand. The Gavin Maxwell Otter Centre at Kyleakin is well worth a visit and numerous distilleries and ancient historical sites can all be found in the region. The picture post card village of Plockton is also just along the coast. With its picturesque flower-filled gardens, little winding streets and pretty cottages lining the foreshore it is easy to see why it has also become a haunt for artists in recent years. Hillside Cottage is situated right on the edge of one of the most dramatic and awe-inspiring regions in the Highlands, recently afforded Geopark status and now the largest geo-park in Europe. Here majestic mountains interspersed with pretty lochs make this a climbers and hill walkers paradise. One of the most famous being Stack Polly but there are also ample of others to choose from for committed hill-walkers and climbers. The nearby town of Ullapool, just 8 miles away is absolutely charming. Built as a model town by Thomas Telford, its whitewashed buildings and wide sweeping harbour never fail to impress the visitor. Seals can be seen bobbing amongst the fishing boats as they unload their catches. There is an excellent selection of restaurants, bistros and small shops along the seafront and boat excursions run from the harbour to explore the coastline, including a wonderful pleasure trip out to the nearby Summer Isles. Ullapool is also the terminus for the ferry to Stornoway in the Outer Isles. The nearby coastal area of North West Sutherland is renowned for its pristine sandy beaches, ancient settlements and incredible sandstone mountains. On a trip through the West Coast visitors pass through an area known as Assynt. Here visitors can explore the Bone Caves (a series of caves and tunnels which have recently been found to contain bones and fossils of long extinct animals, dating back over 4500 years) and the ruins of Ardvreck Castle perched on the edge of Loch Assynt, before arriving in the pretty fishing port of Lochinver. The nearby white shell beach of Achmelvich is simply stunning. Canoeing, sailing, body boarding, golf, fishing (sea, river and loch), horse riding, mountain biking, climbing and hill walking are all enjoyed in the area.
