Built in 1850 in gothic style The Gate House was originally the gate lodge to Victoria Park a crescent of homes facing a green believed to have been built as officers houses for the Dover garrison. A Grade II listed building this mini-castle lies at the bottom of a hill and features a turret sympathetic to Dover Castle which lies 100 yards up the hill. The Gate House is a really unusual and unique holiday home packed with history. An original turret is feature of the bedroom and there are beams throughout upstairs and down. As one of the cinque ports Dover has plenty to offer visitiors to the region all year round. A footpath from the iconic white cliffs leads to the lighthouse where Marconi made his first radio transmission. Dover Museum features a Bronze Age boat discovered in 1992 whilst the tunnels under Dover Castle are open to visitors keen to see where the Dunkirk evacuation was planned.
