During the winter months you have the welcome comfort of an open fire to return to after a day out exploring this lovely area. There are several villages within a few miles of Skellater Cottage offering shops and amenities or you could have a day out in Aberdeen, only 40 miles west, and where you will be spoilt for choice with shops, restaurants and attractions. This area boasts a wealth of outdoor activities available in unspoilt natural spaces including cycling, pony trekking, golf, salmon fishing in the Rivers Dee and Don (permits available locally) and walking in the Cairngorm mountains or skiing at the Lecht. A visit to neighbouring Royal Deeside will allow you to brush up on some local history, rub shoulders with royalty at Balmoral or visit some of the many fine castles the area has to offer or you could take a trip over to Speyside, where you are sure to sample a dram at one of the fine malt whisky distilleries. The Moray coast with its unspoilt sandy beaches and pretty fishing villages, make for an ideal day by the sea you might even be lucky enough to spot a dolphin or a seal!Property is all on ground floor with electric heating. |

Elisabeth Cottage is a stone built, semi-detached cottag in a residential area of the town of Banff on the Moray Firth in Scotland. The cottage has three bedrooms (one double, one twin and one single) and a family bathroom which make it suitable for five people. The rest of the accommodation is comprised of a fitted kitchen with a dining area and a sitting room. Outside the cottage there is a small gravelled rear garden with garden furniture. Just a few minutes walk from the harbour and with so much beautiful countryside to discover, Elisabeth Cottage is a wonderful holiday cottage at any time of year.
Often linked with neighbouring Macduff, Banff is set on the shores of a lovely sandy beach and is full of interesting architectural points. The incredible Duff House is a good example – this impressive Georgian mansion which is open to visitors and homes paintings and artefacts from the National Galleries of Scotland. The surrounding area provides a good selection of shops, hotels and restaurants whilst the gorgeous little town of Pennan, situated in a little bay at the base of rugged cliffs, has been not only a smugglers village, but also the location for the movie 'Local Hero'. On both the Whisky and Castle trails, this wonderful little town also boasts multiple fishing, sailing, dolphin watching, surfing, golfing and climbing opportunities, not to mention the breathtaking scenery and stunning sunsets. |
